"Lady Octane"
All week long as a schoolgirl in Chernihiv, Ukraine, I daydreamed about the coming weekend when I would go to my father's small auto shop to help him fix every broken down Lada in the neighborhood. In Soviet Ukraine, there were lots of them. We did tune-ups, lube-jobs, brakes, steering and suspension... Everything to keep our neighbors broken down cars on the road. We were all poor and payment came usually, in the forms of food, used clothing, and other of life's necessities. Sometimes just a nip of vodka from a friend who had nothing else to trade. My dad Nikolay kept the neighbor's cars running so they could go to work in the factories and feed their families.
My life has always revolved around cars. I hold degrees in mechanical and automotive engineering from Chernihiv National University of Technology, and just earned my degree in Psychology!
As an an adult, I bought, repaired and resold cars in Kyiv. My friends used to have to sit on stacks of tires I stored in my apartment, I had no place else for them to sit.
Like many Ukrainian people, my first language is Russian. I also know English, French, Polish, and a little German. It gets kinda confusing, you never know what word is from where when it comes out of my mouth.
I hope you will join me on my new YouTube Channel where I will cover a wide variety of high-octane tire shredding topics.
